A. Certificate of Attainment in Individual & Group Supervision

Step-Up model, textbook, video and 3-day workshop training.

Certificate of Attainment in Individual & Group Supervision

This 3-Days Supervision Training provides a comprehensive, practical pathway into professional clinical supervision, built around the Step-Up Model, a structured, holistic framework designed for Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Allied Health practitioners.

Supervision is more than oversight, it is a leadership role that carries responsibility for client safety, practitioner development, and professional standards. This training equips you with the knowledge, structure, and confidence to step into that role with clarity.

Participants complete pre-course work prior to attending, designed to introduce key concepts and prompt early reflection. This ensures that time in the training is focused on application, discussion, and skill development rather than theory alone.

The Step-Up Model offers a clear and usable framework for supervision, supporting you to:

  • Support – create a safe, effective supervisory relationship
  • Track – monitor client outcomes, ethical practices, and progress
  • Educate – develop clinical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Business Development – build a sustainable, professional supervision practice
  • Self-Care & Sustainability – maintain capacity and prevent burnout
  • Across the three days, participant move from understanding supervision to actively applying it. The training is grounded in real-world practice, using case examples, structured exercises, and reflective processes to build both skill and confidence.

    You will learn how to:

  • Establish and manage effective supervision relationships
  • Navigate ethical responsibilities and professional boundaries
  • Support supervisees while maintaining appropriate accountability
  • Work with risk, complexity, and diverse client presentations
  • Develop your own supervisory style and professional identity

This Training is suitable for practitioners stepping into supervision for the first time, as well as those wanting a clear, structured framework to strengthen their existing approach.

This program is recognised within the profession as a pathway toward becoming a registered supervisor with leading counselling and hypnotherapy associations.

On completion, participant will have a practical model they can immediately apply in their work, along with the confidence to step into supervision as a recognized and valued professional role.

This is where supervision begins, with structure, clarity and purpose.

B. SOS – Supervision on Supervision (1-Day Advanced Training)

The SOS (Supervision on Supervision) 1-Day Course is designed for practitioners who have already completed supervision training and are looking to deepen, refine,
and strengthen their supervisory practice.

Building on the Step-Up Model, this course moves beyond foundational
knowledge into the lived experience of supervision, what actually happens in the
room, the questions that arise over time, and the complexities that don’t always have straightforward answers.

The Step-Up Model continues to provide the framework, supporting supervisors to work across key areas including:

Support – holding the space while maintaining professional boundaries

Track – monitoring client outcomes, risk, and supervisee development

Educate – strengthening clinical thinking and decision-making
Business Development – supporting sustainable practice and professional
identity

Self-Care &

Sustainability – managing load, fatigue, and long-term capacity
This course specifically focuses on the questions that emerge once you are already supervising, such as:

• Am I holding too much responsibility, or not enough?

When do I step in, and when do I step back?

How do I manage complexity, risk, and uncertainty in real time?

How do I support without over-directing?

Through reflective discussion, case exploration, and practical application,
participants refine their judgement, strengthen their supervisory stance, and build confidence in navigating complex or ambiguous situations.

The SOS program integrates reflective practice with real-world supervision
challenges, providing a structured space to step back, review your approach, and continue evolving as a supervisor.

Participants will gain:

Greater clarity and confidence in their supervisory role

Deeper application of the Step-Up Model in real scenarios

Insight into managing complexity, boundaries, and responsibility

Strategies to sustain themselves while supporting others

A stronger, more defined supervisory identity

This is not about learning supervision – it’s about strengthening how you do it.

Supervision on Supervision (SOS) – Monthly Zoom Group:

Professional Recognition:

  • Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
  • Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists.
  • The Australian Counselling Association.

Supervision plays a central role in ensuring that counsellors provide ethical, safe, and effective care to their clients. The supervisor’s task is not only to support the supervisee but to maintain awareness of how the supervisee’s work influences client outcomes.

The Stepping Up Framework provides a structured approach to supervision that supports
continuous professional improvement and ethical practice.

The framework includes six elements:

  1. SUPPORT – The supervisee is working hard but feels stuck with a client. Supervision often begins with understanding how the counsellor is relating to the client. Support focuses on the counselling relationship and the supervisee’s use of therapeutic skills.
  2. TRACK – Pattern: The supervisee discusses cases but does not consistently follow up outcomes. Track focuses on continuity and accountability in counselling work.
  3. EDUCATE – The supervisee encounters a situation involving ethical or legal uncertainty. Supervision must also ensure counsellors understand professional responsibility and duty of care.
    Confidentiality
  4. PERFORMANCE – The supervisee is competent but professionally drifting. Performance supervision focuses on professional direction and goal alignment.
  5. U – SELF CARE – The counsellor begins to absorb the emotional load of their work. Supervisors must remain alert to signs of fatigue, emotional overload, and burnout.
  6. PRACTICE – Pattern: The counsellor is clinically skilled but struggling with the realities of professional practice.

Supervision on Supervision (SOS) – Monthly Zoom Group:

Eligibility & Suitability

Once you start supervising, the real questions begin.
Not just about the client but about your role in guiding another practitioner, managing
risk, holding boundaries, and making complex professional judgements.

Who This Group Is For
The SOS groups are designed for practising supervisors in counselling,
psychotherapy, and allied health who are already providing supervision and want a
space to reflect on their role.

This includes supervisors who:

 Are registered or working toward recognition with organizations such as:

  • Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
  • Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists
  • Australian Counselling Association

 Are navigating the real-world complexities of supervision

 Want to refine their clinical judgement, boundaries, and decision-making
as a supervisor

 Value ongoing professional development specific to the supervisory role

Why This Group Is Valuable
Supervision plays a central role in ensuring counsellors provide ethical, safe, and effective care to their clients. The supervisor’s task is not only to support the supervisee, but to maintain awareness of how the supervisee’s work influences client outcomes. This is a collaborative space, not a lecture, where supervisors work together to reflect, question, and strengthen their practice.

Supervision of supervision is therefore a distinct skill, one that requires the ability to step back and reflect not only on what is happening, but how and why decisions are being made.

These groups provide:

  • A dedicated reflective space to explore supervision dilemmas and
    uncertainties
  • Support with ethical decision-making, responsibility, and risk awareness
  •  Opportunities to strengthen your supervisory style, confidence, and
    leadership
  • A chance to connect with peers who understand the unique demands of supervision

The Stepping Up Framework in Practice

This group is guided by the Stepping Up Framework, a structured approach to supervision that supports continuous professional improvement and ethical practice.

Support – Track – Educate – Performance – U (Self-Care) – Practice

Each element reflects common patterns supervisors encounter:

  • Support – When a supervisee is working hard but feels stuck, supervision
focuses on the therapeutic relationship and use of counselling skills.
  • Track – When follow-up is inconsistent, supervision brings attention to
    continuity, outcomes, and accountability.
  • Educate – When ethical or legal uncertainty arises, supervision reinforces
professional responsibility, duty of care, and confidentiality.
  • Performance – When a supervisee is competent but drifting, supervision re-
aligns goals, standards, and professional direction.
  • U (Self-Care) – When emotional load builds, supervision addresses fatigue, burnout, and the sustainability of practice.
  • Practice – When clinical skill is present but real-world challenges interfere, supervision explores the realities of working as a practitioner.

Support focuses on the counselling relationship and the supervisee’s use of therapeutic skills.

Performance supervision focuses on professional direction and goal alignment.

    5. U – SELF CARE
The counsellor begins to absorb the emotional load of their work.
Supervisors must remain alert to signs of fatigue, emotional overload, and burnout.

    6. PRACTICE
Pattern: The counsellor is clinically skilled but struggling with the realities of professional
    practice.
